I Just Called To Say…

… that it’s been a while since our last post and we thought it would be a good time to give you guys an update on what’s been happening at our end… some of which you know, some of which you don’t, we guess.

We’ve had a relatively quiet period in terms of gigs owing mainly to the travel schedules of our band members. That said, we have been jamming fairly regularly at the Dust Clinic Jam Room. And what’s more, we’ve been working on our own compositions that should be ready soon. While we’re also reworking some of our older songs, for the new ones the basic grooves are set and we hope to put in the other pieces together soon enough. For a while now, the idea in all our heads has really been to get into a studio soon and record some of the stuff to share with all you guys. So, watch this space for more updates on that too! Leave a comment below to let us know what you think of the idea…

On the gig front, we played a nice little set at Bahi on the night of 7th April (Saturday) and it was good to see the place having undergone a sort of a makeover – the place feels much warmer, and we’re not talking about the temperature here. Feels more like home now… and it’s like playing in your own backyard!

We were also scheduled to play at the IMC Summer Music Festival 2012 at the AMR Mall in Greater Noida on Sunday, 8th April 2012. It’s a good feeling to be part of a line-up consisting of some well-known bands – like Them Clones, MenWhoPause, Rajasthan Roots – in only our first year of playing. However, as some of you may have heard on the news, an unfortunate incident at the AMR Mall resulted in the IMC Summer Music Festival 2012 being called off. Our condolences to the family of Shailendra Bisht. May his soul rest in peace.

What’s in store in the near future? Well, we’re scheduled to play at a private corporate event in Delhi in about 2 weeks time. Sadly, it’s private, so do look out for an event invite on FB and Google+ with details on when and where we’re playing our next public gig. We love it when all of you come for a gig – ‘coz obviously its no fun for us without at least some known faces in the audience. We also have our compositions to work on and studios to visit to figure out the recording related shenanigans…

Until the next time, adios amigos!

Gig update from 10th February 2012

Just a quick update to let you guys know that yet again, we had a great time playing at Bahi on 10th February 2012. This gig was slightly different from our earlier ones for the following reasons:

  • Thanks to the tremendous work pressure, we didn’t really get down to telling you guys about it through the social channels or personally, as some of you may have noticed. Apparently this didn’t go down very well with a lot of you who complained that they just didn’t get to know about the gig! What else can we say… All Apologies.
  • The place was actually a lot less chaotic and people didn’t have to struggle to get a table – the point made above may have had a part to play there. All in all, the place looked very laid back as a consequence, at least from up on the stage, and seemed to soak in the little nuances in everything that we were playing.
  • Talking about the stage – for the first time, all five of us managed to get onto the stage… which was tough (well, there was no place to carry our drinks with us and that’s tough), but we managed.
  • We added G’N'R to our repertoire and actually played 20 songs – including a revamped (and hopefully much improved) version of our original “I Know”.

We’d like to end this note with a huge thanks to all you guys for all the support you have given us so far. For now, here are two videos from the gig for you to watch.

Later, guys!

Gig Report: Bahi – 20th January 2012

Dust Clinic At Bahi

Dust Clinic performs at Bahi, Gurgaon

We played the gig at Bahi to a fairly packed house… a fantastic audience that encouraged, sang along, requested songs and enjoyed the show from start to end. It was a Friday and after a fairly long day (and week) at work, it was almost 9:30PM by the time we set up on stage. Bahi is not your run of the mill kinda pub – it’s meant to be a relaxed hangout place and maintains a rather warm and informal look and feel with a huge focus on live music. Meet Leon, the owner of the place and you’ll know what we’re talking about. For us, after having played two gigs there, it’s starting to feel like home!

We started the gig at 10:00PM with a cover of Judas Priest’s Hell Bent For Leather, and we thought the audience felt the energy as much as we did. Vivek really nailed the solo. Good song to start a gig, isn’t it? We had gotten through a few songs when it happened – the customary screw-up with Vivek’s extensive pedal board setup, that’s become our lucky charm maybe. Thankfully, we figured it was due to a faulty cable and we were back within 5 minutes. Another couple of songs later, just as we were about to go into our break, Saurabh announced a free round of shots for everyone in the house. Yes, EVERYONE! Of course, this was courtesy Bahi.

We started our 2nd set at around 11:15PM and played our 2nd original composition called “I Know“. We liked what we heard from the audience and also realized some parts that  probably need a bit of tweaking. Overall, we ended up having a lot of fun in the 2nd set. Just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we were surprised by a couple of requests – Last Kiss by Pearl Jam and Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne. Needless to say, we obliged because they’d been a fantastic audience, and wound up at a little after midnight – tired, but happy!

The audience got to see Nishant on the rhythm guitars for the first time as he made his debut with Dust Clinic! Ok, so he was standing just off the stage due to the lack of space, but he’s a tall, good looking fellow – we’re sure the audience got a good look at him.

We have some pics available for you guys in the Photos section so do remember to check them out. We should soon have some videos up on the Videos section too. Keep watching!

Upcoming Gig at Bahi

Ok guys – our first gig update for you. No, it’s not our first gig, just the first update about a gig.

We’re getting ready to play at Bahi on 20th January 2012 and it’s a Friday! After a hard week at work (well, it usually is for most of us – don’t tell us that it’s not so for you just to make us jealous), we’re going to be completely ready to play some good ol’ fashioned rock and we sure hope you’re gonna be as ready to come, grab some beers and soak in the music. We’ve got some awesome new songs lined up for you – of course, they are from your favorite rock bands and we believe they are awesome.

And, what’s more? You may just get a sneak peek into our brand new original composition. If you liked Lost In Time, we hope you’re going to like this one too. So, we’re going to be looking to get some feedback from you guys. Remember, you guys heard it first!

Woohoo! And we’ve finally gotten a website up and running. The website is about making sure that  all you guys have all the latest info, updates, videos and music and as someone powerful would say - You shall not be denied! So, we hope you keep coming back to check for the latest on us and from us.

Hope you like it and if you do, remember to like, +1 or tweet about it. Of course, we’d also appreciate it if you like us on Facebook, add us to your Google+ circles and Follow Us on Twitter using the links on the top right of the website.

Our limited time and expertise in setting up a website does not stop us from making and sharing good music that comes straight from the heart. After all, as Dylan said, “A song is anything that can walk by itself” and we hope to walk miles!

So, what better time to get you guys to join us in this journey than this – rounding up a fantastic 2011 that saw the emergence of Dust Clinic in the Delhi-Gurgaon circle and bringing in an exciting 2012! Wish you guys a very happy new year!
